HydraFacial

Once you reach your 30s, your skin starts to change. Collagen production starts decreasing at around 25 years old, at a rate of 1 percent per year. Hyaluronic acid also begins slowing down as we age, so skin cells are less effective at binding in water. The above age-related phenomena, combined with genetic and environmental factors, contribute to the result in fine lines, wrinkles, and loose or thinning skin that characterizes aged skin.

While no treatment exists that halts the signs of aging, certain treatments performed by your dermatologist can help minimize the effects and improve skin tone, texture, firmness, and feel.

What is HydraFacial?

HydraFacial uses patented technology to purify, nourish, and protect the skin. It is the HydraFacial device that makes it distinguishable from a traditional facial, which allows for deeper penetration and longer lasting results. The wand works like a vacuum to open pores for a deep cleanse and easy extraction of impurities and dead skin cells.

HydraFacial is similar to another treatment called microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin. By removing the thicker, uneven outer layer, microdermabrasion can help improve the appearance of scarred, discolored, or sun damaged skin.

As with microdermabrasion, there is no downtime necessary and patients can return to their daily activities and even apply makeup immediately after the treatment.

Some people prefer HydraFacial to microdermabrasion, since the treatment hydrates as well as exfoliates. The HydraFacial device uses an exfoliating tip paired with suction to extract dirt and debris from the surface of your face, then the new skin is infused with a super serum to help maintain radiant, healthy skin. Advocates say this last step is the reason HydraFacial is so effective, and perhaps better than microdermabrasion.

Your HydraFacialist can personalize the treatment by choosing the super serum booster that is most appropriate for your skin care concerns and needs. You can enhance your treatments with add-ons such as LED light therapy (which promotes healing within the skin) and lymphatic therapy (which is known to lift and contour for an instantly sculpted look).

What are the potential benefits?

A HydraFacial treatment can reduce signs of aging and leave the skin looking refreshed. Depending on the specific active ingredients used in the HydraFacial, the treatment helps reduce the signs of aging by reducing wrinkles, adding facial volume, and improving skin tone. The result is more youthful, radiant, and rejuvenated skin.

Since your facial can be personalized, you can address other concerns such as congestion and acne, dark spots, redness, hyperpigmentation, and pore size. Additionally, HydraFacial can be used to improve redness, congestion, and texture in other areas of the body, including the back, neck, arms and hands. There is even a treatment to decongest and drastically improve scalp health to naturally promote hair growth.

Some patients notice visible results such as skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment. The results may last a week or even longer. As with traditional facials, one treatment per month is recommended to maintain skin health results and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, or oily and congested skin.

The process

The HydraFacial process involves three steps:

  • Cleanse: This is the resurfacing step, where the skin is exfoliated. This step deeply cleanses and softens skin to help loosen dead skin cells and prep for extractions.
  • Extract: The HydraFacial device uses Vortex Fusion Technology, which works like a vacuum to painlessly remove congestion from pores.

Hydrate: In the final step, the skin is saturated with moisturizers and peptides. These super serums are geared toward your skin goal, which may include reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, dull skin, or enlarged pores.
